Evan Cheng is the co-founder and CEO of Mysten Labs, the team of leading technological experts focused on building infrastructure for a better internet and the original contributor to Sui and Walrus. A recipient of the prestigious 2012 ACM Software System Award, Evan brings over 24 years of experience in platform development, having led engineering teams at Apple and Meta. Prior to founding Mysten Labs in September 2021, Evan led Novi Research at Meta, where he developed cutting-edge blockchain technologies and contributed to the Diem stablecoin project and Move programming language.
Under Evan's leadership, Mysten Labs has built foundational infrastructure including DeepBook, a decentralized liquidity layer for DeFi, and Walrus, the developer platform enabling data markets for the AI era, making data across all industries trustworthy, provable, monetizable, and secure. In August 2025, Grayscale launched dedicated investment trusts for both protocols, validating institutional confidence in the Sui ecosystem. Most recently, CCP Games, the developers behind EVE Online, announced that its upcoming scifi MMO EVE Frontier would be built exclusively on the Sui blockchain, taking advantage of the platform's object-focused architecture and data programmability to offer near unlimited creative freedom for players.
