Richard Muirhead is a frontier technology engineer, founder, and investor whose career spans four decades across software, networks, and decentralised systems. He is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Fabric Ventures (est. 2012), backing founders building at the intersection of AI, blockchain, and robotics. Richard believes we are at the threshold of a more equitable open economy, if systems are architected around user control of data, developer access to code, and collective ownership. Through funds and direct investments, he has backed over 150 companies including Circle, Polkadot, NEAR, Sorare, 1inch, The Graph, Ocean, Bitstamp, Wise, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Citymapper, and others, supporting founders from inception to global scale. He is a Board Director of Nasdaq-listed SVRN, conceived during his time on the NEAR Foundation Council, where he helped raise over $500m and steward the network to a ~$20bn peak valuation. Across ventures, Richard has created over $2bn in enterprise value, founding and scaling category-defining software companies acquired by Oracle, BMC, and Broadcom. Richard holds an MA in Engineering from the University of Cambridge and is an early advocate of open, decentralised AI and digital assets.
